Delta Air Lines is raising the bar for transatlantic travel from Nigeria with the official unveiling of its brand-new premium lounge at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS) in Lagos. The event, held on July 1, marked a significant milestone in Delta’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the travel experience for Nigerian customers.
TOPCOMM was on ground to witness this exciting development, which also comes ahead of Delta’s introduction of its most advanced aircraft—the Airbus A350-900 and A330-900neo—on U.S. routes later this year.
As a Senior Account Manager at TOPCOMM, I had the privilege of attending the launch event, where Delta executives highlighted the airline’s strategic investment in both infrastructure and customer comfort. These enhancements underscore Delta’s long-standing relationship with Nigeria, having served the market for nearly two decades.
A New Chapter for Ground Experience at LOS
The new Delta lounge at Lagos International Airport redefines the pre-flight experience for premium travelers. With contemporary Nigerian-inspired aesthetics, high-speed Wi-Fi, private relaxation zones, and curated refreshments, the lounge offers a welcoming atmosphere tailored to both Delta One customers and high-value clients in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
Delta’s Senior Vice President for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India, Matteo Curcio, emphasized the importance of this development, stating:
“With the launch of our new premium lounge in Lagos and the introduction of our most advanced aircraft on our routes, we are reaffirming Delta’s commitment to Nigerian travelers. This is an investment in infrastructure, and we strive to deliver an exceptional travel experience from West Africa to the world.”
Delta’s Flagship Aircraft: A New Era of Comfort and Capacity
Starting in October 2025, Delta will deploy the Airbus A350-900 on the Lagos–Atlanta (LOS–ATL) route, replacing the A330-200. The A350 brings a 35% increase in seat capacity, quieter cabins, improved fuel efficiency, and enhanced passenger comfort. From December 2 to January 16, the A330-900neo will also serve the Lagos–New York (LOS–JFK) route, accommodating the holiday travel surge.
Both aircraft feature Delta’s signature Delta One Suites, with lie-flat seats and sliding privacy doors, Delta Premium Select, and Main Cabin offerings with ambient lighting, personal screens, and advanced air purification systems.

Staying Connected in the Skies
Looking ahead to 2025, all passengers on Delta’s transatlantic routes—including those flying from Nigeria—will enjoy fast, free Delta Sync Wi-Fi courtesy of T-Mobile. Delta is also expanding its in-flight brand experience through its partnership with luxury Italian fashion house Missoni, offering enhanced onboard comfort and style.
